Earlier this month, consultants from Performance Learning presented sessions at the Second Annual “Whatever It Takes Conference in Galesburg, IL. Over three hundred educators attended the event which featured sessions across disciplines and a lot of educational technology. It was sponsored by the following organizations:
Presenters were Dr. Lloyd Kilmer on the Extreme Treading Strategies developed by the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning. These strategies help secondary students who are at least two grade levels behind their peers in reading performance. Ms. Lindsay Meeker presented on integrating yoga into the classroom to meet state of Illinois social emotional standards and to enhance academic performance. Finally, Mr. Brett Elliott and Dr. Kilmer presented the Teacher Evaluation Audit System developed by consultant, Dr. PJ Caposey. This system identifies strengths and opportunities for improvement to create fair and consistent ratings for teachers by auditing sample evaluations across the faculty and evaluators. Mr. Elliott shared strategies on coaching teachers on instructional improvement through conferencing and Professional Learning Communities.
